Vibram FiveFingers fit differently from traditional shoes. They are intended to feel close and glove-like, with each toe sitting individually inside its own toe pocket.

For the most accurate fit:

• Measure both feet in centimeters
  
• Measure from the heel to your longest toe
  
• Use the longer foot when selecting your size
  
• Measure near the end of the day, when your feet are at their largest
  
• Your toes should lie naturally and remain fully extended
  
• Your longest toe may lightly reach or sit just before the end of its pocket
  

MileTheory specifically recommends measuring rather than relying only on your usual conventional shoe size.

Just right: Secure and close to the foot. Your toes lie flat and your longest toe lightly reaches or sits just before the end of its pocket.

Too small: Your toes curl, bend, feel compressed, or cannot fully extend.

Too large: There is obvious excess material in the toe pockets or your foot moves noticeably inside the shoe.

FiveFingers are not intended to have the extra front space of a conventional sneaker.

V-Soul generally fits true to Vibram’s size guide and includes an adjustable hook-and-loop strap.

High instep or higher-volume feet: the cross-foot strap can feel more fitted on certain foot shapes. If the shoe length feels correct but the strap cannot fasten comfortably, do not force the fit or automatically choose a much longer shoe simply for additional strap room.

1. Measure at the end of the day or after normal activity.
   
2. Stand with your heel against a straight wall.
   
3. Measure from the wall to the tip of your longest toe.
   
4. Repeat for the other foot.
   
5. Use the longer measurement to select your size.
   

Notes that if your feet differ in length by more than approximately 4 mm, or your second toe is more than approximately 4 mm longer than your big toe, obtaining an equally precise FiveFingers fit on both feet may be difficult.

Important Toe-Shape Note

FiveFingers fit every toe individually. Because toe proportions differ from person to person, foot length alone cannot guarantee a perfect fit for every foot shape.

Give Your Feet Time to Adjust

Barefoot shoes feel different from conventional cushioned footwear. Many people need time to adjust to the new sensation.

Start with shorter wear periods and gradually increase your time in FiveFingers. Vibram's transition guidance indicates that initial adjustment discomfort may decrease after approximately a week or two of use, while recommending a gradual transition.

Adjustment should not mean cramped toes. If your toes curl, bend, or cannot lie naturally inside their pockets, that is a fit issue, not something you should try to “break in.”

When your FiveFingers arrive:

• Try them on indoors first
  
• Guide each toe fully into its correct pocket
  
• Stand naturally
  
• Walk around for several minutes
  
• Confirm that your toes remain flat
  
• Check that your foot feels secure without painful pressure
  
• Check for excessive empty space at the ends of the toe pockets
  

Not quite right? A size exchange may solve the problem.

Consider a Size Exchange First

FiveFingers have a more precise fit than traditional footwear, and sometimes one US/EU size makes the difference.

Toes compressed or curling? Consider one size larger.

Excess toe-pocket space or foot movement? Consider one size smaller.

V-Soul length correct but strap uncomfortable? The issue may be foot volume rather than shoe length.
